there’s no option to change the language, preferences are not saved, first-time setup screen pops up everytime I launch the app. It is just not usable. Nice looking UI though.
INITIAL: I believe VOX is the best mp3 player for OS X. Period. It’s clean, simple and fast; thoughtfully designed all around. I’ve been using it for years now, since it was still version 0.x, and I coudn’t have been happier. P.S. It resembles good ol’ Winamp 2 both in speed and simplicity, if anyone cares. UPDATE: Now this application has become unusable. It keeps showing me the welcome screen everytime I open the app, notifies me to download the iPhone app. On top of that, the shuffle and repeat buttons have no effects when I press them. Too bad, as it started as a good app.
— FYI - the app keeps crashing after I updated to latest OSX version. Reinstalling the app helped. Enjoying VoX again! — Thanks for giving ability to control the app actions from keyboard. I was waiting years for that ;) Guys, I have to rewrite my comment of 2 years old. You did a fantastic job for the last 2 years and I give you full 5 stars now. It’s also great I can use AirPlay now.
Please add %album% info for the scrobbling feature. Please!! ————— Version 2.5.1 Can’t authorize last.fm at all. Please fix! ————— Version 2.6 Keeps crashing on El Capitan.
Will no longer open or start after latest update, previous version gets 5 stars, system: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, ntel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB, running 10.10.5
I really like Vox. I think it’s the best sounding music player for Mac but, like a lot of other reviewers, it started unexpectedly quitting on launch on my system. For whatever reason, Vox 2.6.5 is not appearing here on the Mac App Store but it can be downloaded from the Coppertino web site. I had to delete the Vox 2.6 app, go into ~/Library/Containers/ to delete com.coppertino.Vox and com.coppertino.VOXAgent, go into ~/Library/Preferences/ and delete com.coppertino.Vox.LSSharedFileList.plist, restart the computer, install Vox 2.6.5, and redo my preferences. A little work but the nice sound is back...
I faced similar problems other reviews did. My solution was to reinstall the app, and then everything worked on my mac, just like good ol days. I’m not sure it’s VOX’s problem or Apple’s problem, for many Apple apps couldn’t be verified by Apple recently, and the solution was to reinstall those apps. Just my two cents.
This is an amazing app. Hope you can support lyric viewer.
Vox is a good native app for playing FLAC files, which is what I was searching for when I found it. I haven’t ran into any bugs, and Vox doesn’t nag me to get LOOP (Voxs paid cloud music storage service.) I installed Vox under OS X 10.10 Yosemite via App Store and it worked great. A *minor* update to OS X caused the app to crash on launch 100% of the time, with some appstore-app-receipt-thing exception being thrown by an Apple shared library. Upgraded to OS X 10.11 El Capitan and the crashing continued. Reinstalled Vox and it works just fine again.
After the crappy update I can’t open VOX no more and it gives this error "VOX” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “VOX” and download it again from the App Store."
works great after using appcleaner to remove the old version
Vox is the best audo player! There is no good alternative at all. Id pay for it.
This is the best app ever!!!!
Great player, great service. Vox w/ Loop on Mac + iPhone gives me all my music in full quality. Never had a problem with it.
For some reason, the UI is the size of a phone screen, even though you’ve got an entire desktop available. As a result, it’s too cramped and hard to use when compared with any other player. It’s just not friendly enough for me to switch.
Love the design, and it’s really ideal if you want to keep some music seperate from your iTunes library.
would be a great app if you turned off all the annoying adds and popups. i don’t need my frigging music player to randomly ask if I want to play a song when using my computer. just sit there in the background until i click on you like a normal app, thank you.
I use VOX to play all my music, regradless of format. That works great. However, I just added the radio option ($4.99) and that works terribly. Listed stations don’t work, no clear instructions of it’s use, and no one to turn to for help.
I downloaded file from Soundcloud it had 320kbs (Vox said), then i listened it from Soundcloud through Vox and Vox showed me that that file had 128kbs!!!!
