VOX: MP3 & FLAC Music Player App Reviews

164 Customer Reviews:

What exactly is it supposed to do? Most of the time it just showed the name of the song but didn’t play the music on my computer, it did work for the first week or two playing most but not all the music/audio files i tried to open within it, but after that just a trike with whistles, bells, busted lights, and no tires.

Like everything in the AppStore these days, this is basicly spyware, with a bunch of In-app purchase options. Uses four “Advanced Marketing Metrics & Analytics” sevices to track your behavior. Total waste of time.

First, love the nice look of the player. Simple but elegant. Creating playlists, equalizer presets, radio & soundcloud are oftenly used. If you could add an option to save custom equalizer presets, that would make this PERFECT.

Interface is ok but way overwhelmed by all the features that cannot be used for free. hey you want loop? you want loop? come on sign up for loop? options: Remind me later. very annoying if want to use free version. also: google analytics reporting: check calls home often to report app running: check not for me!

It never load iTunes library properly even allow assess to entire file system. There were several app updates but issue is still there. Useless app if you want to listen to songs in iTunes library :(

Vox is great looking, lightweight/quick, and very functional. I love vox. i’ve been using it for MP3 files ever since I got my mac. I don’t use it to often as spotify is my go to for music, but if I wana listen to a song I bought on itunes, or just an mp3 file, I always use vox, iTunes made me very angry because it’s not a lightweight player, it’s not good as an mp3 player. Free app, would absolutly reccomend this app to anyone, wether you need it or not, it’s better than using iTunes as your default mp3 player.

I bought this thing this morning because I foolishly believed the radio function would perform as do most of the radio apps in the store: With little-to-no issues; yeah, I don’t know why I thought, either. “FIP [radio station located in Paris] failed to load,” I’m told. Failed to load? Really? My bad. I’ll write it off as experience.

I have tried Vox through multiple versions, but none are ever more than a buggy, frustrating experience. After 3 or 4 attempts through various releases, I have given up trying to see if this has improved.

I would easily give this app a 5 for sound quality alone - among the best as far as sound quality! But, without any kind of buttons or knobs its impossible to figure out how to use the thing. A shame becuz the sound kicks butt! Vox, give us a clue as to how to use your app! Hell, took me 5 mins. just to figure out how to close the app.

i love the look of VOX. unfortunately looks dont get the job done. its the only decent drag an drop player i know of for mac. i used to love iTunes, but having tracks added to the library when adding to iTunes is just bloat and clutter. macs need a player like windows have in media player. dont get me wrong, i prefer OS X to windows hands down. but as far as a simple thing like an mp3 player goes…apple has missed the mark. which is why i use VOX. again…VOX looks great, but its just a pain to use. when there are updates, you get no notification. it just doesnt load. OR it just doesnt load period. you have to uninstall and reinstall. it also tends to skip the following track in a playlist. play one, skip one, play one, skip one…..etc. or it will play 10sec of a track and skip. or just stop. there are days it acts up so badly…ill just go to youtube or play music from my phone while i werk. :( nit picky note: the volume button is a pain to access. you need to click on the VOX app twice to get at it. WHY HIDE THE VOLUME BAR?! super bad UI choice. unfortunately i will have to stick with VOX till something better comes along. id give it a 1 star, but its pretty looking :)

Sort of liked this app for use on the fly

Whatever you did, the program won’t even open now. You might want to think about undoing whatever it is you just did.

Being able to stream my LOOP library is the feature I find most valuable. It’s primarily what I use VOX for: the ability to stream from my library of FLAC and ALAC lossless music. It’s been working pretty admirably until today, when it crashed a couple of times upon launch. Deleted the app, downloaded again, reinstalled. Seems to be working quite well. I’m really not interested in the other features, so my experience has been 95% positive.

I have used this app for more than a year now and all I can say is what in the hell is wrong with your developers?!!! The app wont even open anymore, it just opens a “app has crashed” tab immediately when I open it. I’ve had enough with this companies sh*t and I wont be returning.
